Does the reward reach them?
When a person dies, their own deeds come to an end, but not everything stops. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that a charity given on behalf of a deceased person benefits them, and he named water as the best charity for them.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
ุฅูุฐูุง ู ูุงุชู ุงููุฅูููุณูุงูู ุงููููุทูุนู ุนููููู ุนูู ููููู ุฅููููุง ู ููู ุซูููุงุซูุฉู: ุฅููููุง ู ููู ุตูุฏูููุฉู ุฌูุงุฑูููุฉูุ ุฃููู ุนูููู ู ููููุชูููุนู ุจูููุ ุฃููู ููููุฏู ุตูุงููุญู ููุฏูุนูู ูููู
โWhen a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who prays for them.โ
A man said to the Prophet (peace be upon him):

โMy mother died suddenly, and I think that if she could have spoken, she would have given charity. Will she have a reward if I give charity on her behalf?โ He said: โYes.โ
Sa'd ibn 'Ubada asked the Prophet (peace be upon him):

โO Messenger of Allah, the mother of Sa'd has died: which charity is best?โ He said: โWater.โ So Sa'd dug a well and said: โThis is for the mother of Sa'd.โ
Like Sa'd for his mother, you can dedicate a well or trees to a loved one who has passed away: their name goes on the sign.

The well's sign can carry a short prayer for the deceased. A few examples, to write in the language of your choice:

Yes. A man told the Prophet (peace be upon him) that his mother had died suddenly, and asked whether she would be rewarded if he gave charity on her behalf. He answered: โYesโ (narrated by Al-Bukhari, no. 1388, and Muslim, no. 1004). Scholars agree that a charity given for a deceased person benefits them.
Sa'd ibn 'Ubada asked which charity was best for his late mother. The Prophet (peace be upon him) answered: โWaterโ. Sa'd then dug a well and said: โThis is for the mother of Sa'dโ (narrated by Abu Dawud, no. 1681). A well serves a whole community every day: it is one of the most lasting forms of sadaqah jariyah.
Their name, as you wish: โIn memory ofโฆโ, โFor the soul ofโฆโ, or simply their first and last name. On a well, you can add a message of up to 250 characters, for example a prayer for the deceased. You can also leave the sign anonymous.
