Sadaqah jariyah
Planting a tree, a charity that keeps growing
Sadaqah jariyah is the charity whose reward continues after death. A tree that feeds and gives shade is one: as long as it benefits people and animals, the reward continues, God willing.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
No Muslim plants a tree or sows a crop from which a bird, a person or an animal then eats, without it being counted for him as charity.โ
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: a continuing charity (sadaqah jariyah), knowledge that benefits others, or a righteous child who prays for them.โ
You can plant your trees in your own name or in the name of a loved one, living or departed.

Plant my treeFrequently asked questions
Answers to your questions
A real person from our team will answer you, in English or French.
Where will my tree be planted?
In Uganda, by our field partner, within local communities. Its fruit benefits families and children.
When will I receive the photo and video?
At planting. They are checked by our team, then sent by email (and on WhatsApp if you wish) and added to your tracking page.
When will the tree bear its first fruit?
About 5โ7 years after planting, depending on the soil and the climate. It then keeps bearing fruit for about 40โ50 years in total.
Can I plant a tree in a loved one's name?
Yes. Enter the name of your choice (a parent, a child, a loved one who has passed away): it will be on the sign held during the photo and video of the planting. You can then share the tracking link with them.
Does the name on the sign cost extra?
Yes, $8 per tree: our partner prepares a sign with your name for the photo and video of the planting. Without a name, the tree stays anonymous and you pay nothing extra.
Why plant several trees?
The price per tree goes down with the quantity, and your trees are planted together: a small orchard for the community, documented by the same photos and videos.
